I stopped at this L&L on the way to a coffee tour. I've only been to Hawaii 3 times, but I really never remembered eating loco moco. I figured, this day was the day. OMG, they don't skimp here. I got a mountain of rice, topped with 2 large beef patties, eggs, and smothered in gravy. On vacay, I eat like I haven't eaten in days, so this was right up my alley. I also tried the lumpia. I'm filipino, so it didn't taste like mom's. It tasted like, I dunno, the frozen stuff you get at the local asian store. I was ok with it though. It's fast food, after all. The thing I like about L&L is consistent food, reasonable prices, and friendly service. I got all three at this L&L.

We wanted to see if it was better than the ones we had in southern CA and found them to be the same. Good food and convenient place to stop off during our trip to the Kona coast. We tried the spare rib platter with the macaroni salad and rice.

Very bad service.. Person at the window picking his nose behind the counter thinking nobody was looking and continued to handle food and utencils, and serve it to customers.

Yummy BBQ spare ribs! Fried seafood is ok to good, but the BBQ is better & memorable. You go for the cheap, fast food & not atmosphere. It's a 1970s greasy spoon that you can't get in the mainland. I would go back for their BBQ & katsu dishes, if I had no worries about calories, grease or salt, but since I watch what I eat, I can't eat here but once every blue moon.

I love this L&L Drive Inn at Captain Cook, located just after the antique shop where the big parking lot is, and the church.. Besides the beautiful location with lots of parking and gorgeous trees nearby, the food at this restaurant is always consistent.. I always order the Mini-Combo A Plate for $5.95 - it comes with Tender Roast Pork & a Hamburger Patty with lots of gravy on top, two scoops of rice & a scoop of Macaroni Salad... sooo yummy! ..and no other L&L that I've been to sells it! With the cool nippy weather in Captain Cook, it's always nice to get a hot meal there.. and did I say that the parking lot is spacious? lol.. that's important to me too, since I have a big truck.. mahalo L&L Captain Cook!
